Geriatrics: Older Adults in the Emergency Department

Older adults in Saskatchewan are a core emergency department user group, accounting for 20-30% of all ED visits across the province. They remain longer in the emergency department, have more investigations, and higher rates of admission. Unfortunately, older adults also have increased morbidity, and mortality and increased rates of unanticipated return ED visits.

Our goal is to elevate the care of older ED users throughout Saskatchewan through the development and sharing of relevant best practice material which is evidence based and high quality.
