PRESENTED BY: Dr. Grazyna Burek
Born and raised in Calgary, Grazyna’s passion for pediatric care stemmed from 13 years of coaching young competitive downhill ski racers. She completed medical school at the Cumming School of Medicine, followed by a pediatric residency and emergency medicine fellowship at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, which sees over 77,000 children annually and is the pediatric trauma center for a catchment area of over 2.5 million. Grazyna further honed her acute care and trauma skills by moonlighting in the Pediatric ICU and with the Adult Trauma Surgery Team at Foothills Medical Centre.
Outside of medicine, Grazyna grew up ski racing in the Rockies and spent 13 years coaching for Team Panorama in British Columbia. In 2010, she was selected as the only female U12 coach for Team Canada at the International Whistler Cup, coaching the top Alberta athletes. In her free time, she enjoys adventures with her husband, young son, and their 150lb St. Bernard/Bernese Mountain Dog mix.’
