HIV PEP in the Emergency Department

After participating in this session, learners will be able to

• Understand when to offer HIV PEP for blood and body fluid exposures.
• Explore the recommended HIV PEP regimen including timing.
• Identify key patient counselling points for HIV PEP, emphasizing adherence and follow-up testing.
• Recognize potential challenges and contraindications for HIV PEP.
• Apply the new Saskatchewan BBFE Practitioner Order Sets and use the Firstline app to support decision-making in emergencies and urgent care settings.
