nurses, EMT, and all other interprofessional healthcare providers practicing emergency care.

Before and after study of opt-out dual HIV/Syphilis screening
Understand the role for deliberate physician education in HIV/syphilis testing and provider-directed screening in increasing the amount of
cases of HIV and syphilis diagnosed in the ED.
Recognize the importance of referring syphilis-positive HIV-negative patients to resources for PrEP counselling and/or initiation.
Adapt the findings of the current study to our ED population in Saskatchewan in order to modify individual practice or establish similar
programs.

Dr. Jaskaran Singh Khinda (Resident) with Dr. Jessi Warren (Faculty)
HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis from the ED
Understand the concept of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and its significance in preventing HIV transmission.
Identify potential criteria for selecting appropriate candidates for HIV PrEP among patients presenting to the emergency department.
Recognize the role of emergency department physicians in advocating for broader access to HIV PrEP and facilitating multidisciplinary
collaboration for comprehensive HIV prevention efforts.
